In the midst of daily challenges and conflicts within our greater communities, cultivating a spirit of harmony and peace is a gift to yourself and to the world.
We invite you to walk the labyrinth indoors at Carondelet Center, whether this is your first walk or you are developing a spiritual practice.
After a brief reflection, we welcome you to walk as often as you wish. There will be space for writing and artist play as well as time for quiet prayer and meditation.
In 1997, Wisdom Ways Center for Spirituality mowed an outdoor labyrinth in the lawn of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, the first in the Twin Cities community. Wisdom Ways has introduced the labyrinth to thousands through the many labyrinth conferences, programs and events we have sponsored since then.
On August 29, 2015, a new outdoor Chartres labyrinth was installed on the grounds of Carondelet Center. In Spring 2016, a Garden Labyrinth was installed on the grounds of Carondelet Center.
Marilyn Larson has been making labyrinths since 1996. She creates labyrinths for personal and public spaces in a variety of media. Most recently, she designed the labyrinth for the Spiritual Center at Hennepin County Medical Center.
M.J. McGregor, Ph.D., Advanced Veriditas Certified Facilitator, introduces and facilitates labyrinth walks nationally and in Chartres Cathedral, France. M.J. leads pilgrimages in Chartres, where she is a seasonal resident, and most recently co-guided a walking pilgrimage from Paris to Chartres Cathedral.
Professional labyrinth designer and builder Lisa Gidlow Moriarty has created hundreds of labyrinths, from room-size portable canvases to large outdoor concrete installations. Her work can be found in city parks, schools, hospitals, churches and private gardens across the US. Lisa also leads workshops, retreats and pilgrimages to sacred sites.
Some thoughts our participants have shared:
“I have come to love this time! My heart simply sings when I am on my way here. I want to run up the stairs, knowing there is a message for me on this labyrinth. Walking in Harmony is a perfect name, a respectful nod to the others, knowing that we each and all find the center. Walking the labyrinth is both gift and surprise every time!”
“I always feel more centered when I leave, back on track. This is a wonderful easy way for me to have a break in my “busy-ness.” I feel more grounded and rejuvenated.”
“I have at least one – often more – helpful insights every time I walk the labyrinth. The leader, participants, and setting all give me a great sense of presence.”
