The greatest mystery of being human is our freedom. Freedom is our greatest gift as well as our darkest. This mystery is at the heart of Advent.

When we gaze into the depths of our own possibilities it makes us dizzy. It has been said that the masses of humanity are afraid of our freedom. Advent is, therefore, a great gift and a necessary opportunity to look into what it means for us to be human and how we are using our freedom.

“Creation was subjected to transience and futility . . . in the hope that creation itself would . . . come to share in the glorious freedom of the children of God.” This will be our day’s exploration through reflections, practices, and personal discernment work.
