7:30 -9:00 am
As part of our ongoing focus to explore current cultural dynamics through the lens of contemporary wisdom writers, we will use David Brook’s Second Mountain: The Quest for a Moral Life for our fall series book study.
The subtitle reflects this New York Times columnist’s personal search for meaning resulting from a dark night experience and his seeking spiritual understanding through various wisdom sources. Brooks posits that hyper-individualism has been a misdirected search for happiness, i.e., a first mountain, and that second-mountain living represents a shift from self-centered to other-centered living.
Brooks intelligently and insightfully examines commitment through vocation, marriage and healthy intimacy, how faith serves us and others, and relationship through engagement in community.
COST: $90.00, includes light breakfast; single session $35.00
