Winter Solstice: Hope is the Thing with Feathers

Wednesday, December 21, 2016
7:00 - 8:30 pm

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

These lines by Emily Dickinson inspire us as winter surrounds us. Come illumine the darkness by lighting candles, singing songs, celebrating, mourning, embracing.  Deep in the dark and cold, we’ll wander inward, find a spark, and kindle hope for the season.

Sara Thomsen is a weaver of song and community singing. At concerts, conferences, classrooms, workshops, retreats, jails, places of prayer, and lines of protest, to be with Sara is to want to sing.  She is founder and artistic director of the Echoes of Peace Choir, a community choir in Duluth, Minnesota, and a staunch supporter of struggles for human dignity and ecological sustainability.
