Creating Spiritual Home Makeovers
|
This program has already taken place this spring. We leave this information so you can see the kinds of programs we offer. |
Does your heart lift when you return home each night? Do you leave home in the morning feeling refreshed, comforted, and confirmed in your innate worth? Whether you live in an efficiency apartment, a home, or a manse on a hill, your home should be a sanctuary for repairing hurts and celebrating joys.
In this five-part series, we will consider how our homes support our spirituality, our values, our relationships, and our well-being. The session themes are: Longing for Home, Assessing Our Home, Finding the Heart of Our Home, Creating Sacred Space In Our Home, and Blessing Our Homes. Limited to 10 participants. |

|
Session 1: Longing for Home Music: Cathedrals Reading: Longing for Home (Buechner)

Session 3: Finding the Heart of Our Home Music: Our House Reading: How Does a House Become a Home? (Sanders & Weltner)
Session 4: Creating Sacred Space in Our Home Reading: Passion for Pilgrimage (Alan Jones)
Session 5: Blessing Our Homes The last session takes place in the home of one of the group members who will be the recipient of a home blessing ritual created by the group. The home blessing will be followed by a time of hospitality over a potluck meal together. Location to be determined by the group.

Richard Andersen, M.Div., received his Life Coaching training from the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara, California. He has served as a Certified Life Coach, individual and organizational, for more than a hundred clients. A graduate of Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Andersen was ordained in 1986 and served as a parish pastor in Southwestern Minnesota. His second career as a senior financial consultant at Thrivent Financial for Lutherans allowed him to help clients shape their futures. Ruth Frost, M.Div., served fifteen years as pastor at St. Francis Lutheran Church, a multi-cultural parish in San Francisco known for its ministry with homeless people and its advocacy on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in church and society. Previously, she worked as a counselor in chemical dependency treatment services. A graduate of Luther Seminary, and an accomplished stained glass designer, Frost has helped congregations express their mission and identity through the arts. When not doing Third Act, Frost works as a chaplain with Hospice of the Twin Cities. “Hospice work,” says Frost, “is all about third act thinking. It teaches you to live well and die whole.”
