Songs Like Seeds
with Sara Thomsen

Wednesdays, April 27, May 18, & June 29
7-8:30pm

Led by singer-songwriter Sara Thomsen, this monthly gathering will cultivate the joy of informal community singing, focusing on the themes of birthing and dying. In a casual atmosphere, reminiscent of the age old art of singing 'round the fire, Sara will lead the singing of familiar and new songs carefully selected for their enriching themes and qualities: songs to celebrate and honor birthings and passings, beginnings and endings, living and dying.

Songs sung with intention, like seeds planted with care, can take root in an individual or community and flower into unexpected fruits: simple joy, healing balm, increased sensitivity, awe and wonder, a re-enchanted and revitalized spirit, a grounding and centeredness, a deepening of compassion.  No previous singing or music reading experience required.

PRESENTER: Sara Thomsen (www.sarathomsen.com) is a singer and songwriter whose music comes from the heart, carrying her listeners inward and outward—into the particulars of their own lives, and out into the shared humanity of us all. In the tradition of Pete Seeger, Holly Near, and Woody Guthrie, Sara is a weaver of song and community singing, bringing her musical gifts to gatherings of both celebration and protest. Increasing wonder and awareness, deepening spiritual connection, and widening social engagement through song is at the heart of her work. Her most recent recording is Everything Changes.
