6:30 – 9:00 pm
How can we best be present, awake and engaged in this time? Even as our hearts break and our anger and frustration rise, what is courageous action? How do insight and compassion inform our courage?
In different ways, Meg and Barbara have been exploring these questions with many people in many places. In this evening of conversation, music and poetry, they will share their experiences and invite you to reflect on your own, as together we explore what it means to be both wise and courageously engaged today.
Books and CDs will be available for purchase.
Margaret Wheatley, EdD, says, “Now in my 70s, I can look back and appreciate what a rich and blessed life I’ve lived. I’ve been able to give my curiosity free rein and to be with extraordinary teachers. I’ve explored a wide range of disciplines and lived in several different cultures. I’ve learned from indigenous peoples to the Dalai Lama, from small town ministers to senior government ministers, from leading scientists to National Park rangers, from engaged activists to solitary monastics. Access to so many sources of experience and wisdom, held in the container of friendship, deepens my resolve to bring whatever I’m learning into my books and teachings, and to continue to be of service in this darkening world.”
Barbara McAfee is a voice coach, singer/songwriter, keynote speaker, and author of Full Voice: The Art and Practice of Vocal Presence, who merges lessons from 12 years in organization development with the transformational power of sound. “The band” for Margaret Wheatley’s Women’s Leadership Revival Tour, Barbara has produced seven CDs and is founder of the Morning Star Singers, a volunteer hospice choir in the Twin Cities. She lives across the street from the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.
