Christian Meditation Teaching Sessions: Becoming One With the One
"Learning to pray is learning to live as fully as possible in the present moment." John Main, OSB
Benedictine Monk John Main reintroduced 20th century spiritual seekers to the rich Christian tradition of meditation. Come explore Main’s teachings on meditation as a way of contemplative prayer, its roots in the Christian tradition, the practice of meditation, and its power to compel us beyond our place of prayer to compassionate action in the world. Each session will include presentations, discussion, and times of meditation together.
Deborah Chernick, a CSJ consociate, studies the history of Christian contemplative prayer and serves on the board of the Trust for the Meditation Process.
Susan Oeffling, CSJ, a spiritual director and group facilitator, has practiced meditation for years. With master’s degrees in theology and counseling, she completed her education as a spiritual director through the Center for Spiritual Guidance.
WHEN: Wednesdays, October 15, 22, & 29 (please plan to attend all three sessions), 2014, 7:00-9:00 pm
