My name is Jessica Lopez Lyman, and I am currently pursuing an MA/PhD in the Chicana and Chicano Studies Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara, focusing on Critical Race Theory, Education, and Performance Theory/art. Originally from St. Paul, I received my BA from St. Catherine University in 2008, with degrees in Secondary Education and English. Through my academic projects and performance poetry, my work centers on racial and social justice.
I am excited to join the amazing Wisdom Ways community this summer, and look forward to thinking, breathing, acting, pondering, learning, and envisioning peace with you all. |

PARENTS & CAREGIVERS: A few things to keep in mind in planning and preparing:
- Snacks/water are provided. Children bring their own lunch.
- Children need to be signed in and out each day by a caregiver. NOTE: If children live in the neighborhood, we will request a note from parents/guardians that they can walk or bike home, or a note if someone else is picking the child/children up at the end of each day.
- Children need to wear comfortable clothes and shoes ... suitable to be fully engaged in both indoor and outdoor activities!
- You are invited to an OPEN HOUSE on the final day of Peace Camp ~ Friday, July 16, 2-3pm at Carondelet Center. Join us in celebrating peace with music, art, garden walks, and building a Peaceful Household activity.

| The picture above is of a mural created by the children at Peace Camp 2009. Artist Seexang Lee created the overall picture on 60 5x5-inch canvas squares. Each child painted one of the squares, and by the end of the day, Seexang put all the pieces back together.
