Beyond the Divide: War, Peace, and The Courage to Find Common Ground

October 24, 2015, 6:30 - 9:00 pm

Beyond the Divide is a new, award-winning documentary film that tells the story of a Vietnam veteran and a peace advocate who bravely step across a painful divide between Vietnam veterans and area civilians. In this character-driven film surrounded by the vast natural beauty of Montana, Veteran Dan Gallagher and peace advocate Betsy Mulligan-Dague demonstrate how courageous first steps can lead to healing old wounds and building a path to reimaging peace in the future.

Following the film, award-winning independent director/producer Jan Selby, owner of Quiet Island Films, Rabbi Marcia Zimmerman, senior rabbi of Temple Israel, Terry Shaughnessy, coordinator of Men’s Series at Wisdom Ways, and local vets and peace activists will share their experience of the film and their own way in seeking common ground and living a more compassionate life.

“This film encourages engagement and inspires viewers to take action to reach beyond divides.”

Nina Streich, Executive Director of Global Peace Film Festival
